It's the night of Christmas Eve. The silent night. And we don't have snow but we do have the rain, and the cold night air, and the serenity. Somewhere at the back of my mind I know that there are troubles, there always will be, but for tonight I'm at peace with them.

Merry Christmas Eve, to everyone, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, and I wish you peace.

There is a disadvantage to having studied sea cucumbers for one year.

I ate at a Chinese restaurant today ($100 voucher, mum won it). When it came to a dish of braised fish maw and sea cucumbers, I picked up a piece of sea cucumber, looked at the pattern of the skin and went "I KNOW THIS SPECIES!"

Today:

I was offered a pamphlet by a cute little girl on the roadside, who was obviously trying to get rid of them after having taken them from someone else.
I read "1 COR 13:8 (Not sure if the numbers are right, but the verse was 'Love never fails')" as IGOR 13:8.
I had a role reversal, and ended up being the bored friend waiting while a friend shopped.
I got drenched in the rain, and ran for shelter.
I went up the same escalator I took to get to prom, except this time I was the total opposite of glam, on account of being drenched.
I bought a book about making pop-up buildings, and contemplated buying another book that was a collection of old-time pin-up paintings of girls.
I wore an oversized shirt for comfort, because I couldn't be bothered to dress up.
I kicked around saga seeds on the pavement.
I snapped pictures like a tourist, with a camera that was about to run out of battery.
I slept on the 1 hour bus ride home.
I bought a set of pencils, and met Hongling to show her the painting.
I overheard a little boy asking why Satay Bee Hoon was called Satay Bee Hoon and not Satay Sauce Bee Hoon.

Trouble pours, but happiness sometimes comes in little bits :)

BACK FROM Y CAMP!

Totally konked out the moment I got home XD wasn't expecting to konk out, to be honest, didn't feel that tired. But the moment I hit the bed it was like "AHHH CANNOT GET UP" haha.

Things went quite smoothly overall I think, I LOVE MY COMM GO PROGRAMS COMM! Ok umm I LOVE YOU TOO MAIN COMM AND LOGISTICS PEOPLE. OH AND TO CHARLENE WHO MIGHT READ THIS I THINK YOU WERE AWESOME. THANKS FOR BEING THERE FOR ME THROUGHOUT THE CAMP. My job turned out super slack though, because Night games got cancelled and arts and crafts were much easier than expected. Feel a bit eh...most useless member of group-ish. But it was due to circumstances! And I did do my best in whatever I did! Except maybe rah-rah-ing crowds, I think I really suck at that ><

I think I want to go for December Y Camp again! As volunteer though I think I want more one-to-one interaction with the beneficiaries :( Didn't get much this time round. And I think it's a really meaningful experience as a volunteer, saw so many people step up to fill the roles. It was really quite impressive, the patience and care some of the volunteers demonstrated. Like I know she won't read this BUT I'M PROUD OF YOU LUSHY. AND YOU TOO ASHLEY POOR BOY. And Hiok and Minmin and Chin Yang (is that how you spell his name?) who I don't even know well but was impressed with the way they worked anyway.

But really enjoyed working and planning for this camp. One thing that really stood out to me though was that the staff in charge was very easy to get along with and work with. I've always had the problem of not being able to relate to people one level up as friends (unless they start out as friends first then that's different of course). Like teachers and yeah. But it was really awesome working with Eileen (who eye candies more than we do O__O It is a bit funny to see your staff IC eye candy your class guys)

OH OH OH AND I FOUND THIS GUY CALLED NAT TOO IN THE CAMP. And he was like "Ohhh so everytime people called for Nat they were calling for you! Then make me so confused... ...Don't worry, if people call Nat they're usually calling me. Especially if it's girls calling." Haha we made an agreement to both go to December camp and confuse people, but he wants to go as comm member and I want to go as a volunteer, so we're switching places yup. Yayyy.

I ought to go to sleep. I slept at 5.30am last night/morning XD.

This post is slightly overdue, but I was too tired yesterday.

I just finished my last SCS session :( Alvis (a kid) was pretty out of hand yesterday, and so ends my last meeting with him on a bad note >< And I didn't get to see Lensen (another kid). I'll miss the kids. But I probably won't get to see them again, I can't volunteer for the next semester, not with A levels on, and after that, well, I hope I can go overseas? Maybe within the first half of the year though. But I wanted to do something more then, like giving tuition, which I wanted to do for quite some time but couldn't due to time issues.

But I think there's an outing in June! :D i could go volunteer for that one. (And I saw one of my previous kids who dropped by for the magic show and he was so cute!)

OH YEAH! Anyone care to mention what productions I promised to go for T___T and the dates. My new phone means that my calendar is empty. And I know I have at least Harmoc concert, dance night, and HTOHL to go to, BUT I FORGOT THE DATES. PEOPLE REMIND ME THANKS.

ART WEEK 2008

Workshops!
Manga workshop! (Monday, signup at canteen)
Conducted by Lingxi, who does awesome pieces, and is a pretty good teacher :D All samples on the baord were done by her, that should give you an indication of how good she is. She worked really hard on this, don't let her effort go to waste as well T__T

Card-making and quilling! (Various time slots through the week, just pop by booth at canteen)
Quilling is fun and cute and really easy :D And uh...there are some cute card-making techniques? Plus you can just pop by whenever you're free and they're doing a workshop! Free and easy!

Math subset Art! (Sign up at canteen, Friday)
Perspective drawing and architecture drawing. Mm well, if you're intrested in either Math or Art you can go for that! Colab between Math Soc and Art Club

Everyday DIY! (Sign up at canteen)
Ok I'm not really sure what they're doing for this, but I think it involves decorating your everyday use stuff. Also quite simple, I think, and it'd be fun to personalise your own stuff!

Exhibitions
I'm forcing you guys to go see this because I'm in charge of all the exhibitions (although ok all I have to do for Photog is get it approved and make sure it's up)

Art Exposed (Canteen)
Art Club members works displayed in classroom env! Um...really pretty artworks? :D Open to all at canteen, whenever there's someone to man it. To prove that art isn't some exclusive thing. Also because I need an excuse to do an exhibit out of the art room, but that's not the PC motive. Please don't vandalise T____T

Photography Exhibitions (Corridor connecting Canteen and Block C)
Two exhibition done by Photog Soc. The J1 one is a collage of photos forming the school crest, the J2 one displays black and white photos that were personally printed by the photog soc members (in a cute design backgroudn thingy by Yihui. That features Godzilla.) Go see!

WhArt
Um...Just check out the canteen about informative writeups on artwork :D

Monsters

Gary the Mascot
Look out for Gary at 5 different locations in school!

Monster infestation
Look out for the monsters infesting the gardens and scaling the walls of the school

Lift monster
Giant monster at lift. 'Nuff said.

(AND BECAUSE THIS IS THE BIT I DID LOADS FOR, I CAN NOW GIVE A SNEAK PREVIEW OF MY FAVOURITE MONSTER OF ALL I DID)

Just finished filing!

I think I've disappointed my GP teachers (Or would've, if they hadn't changed around so much). Looking through my GP files, from my early essays to my latest, yeah. Ms Ng thought that I would do well, once I got used to the way of writing GP essays. At that time I was getting Bs. 1 year and a bit more has passed, and I'm still getting consistent Bs >.< I think it's partly due to my attitude also? When I started out, I tried new things, experimented, actually took pride in my essays. But after countless times of getting slight disillusions I now write GP essays in such a mechanical way, like filling up a form that says "Intro, Side A, Side B, Evaluation of sides (or more usually for me, Why Side B is Wrong), Conclusion". I've stopped trying to make my essays interesting or impactful, and I think that is bad, especially since I'm still not writing in an exactly GP essay-ish way. So that's kind of losing out on both points (and I have no idea how i manage to maintain my 'B').

GP common test is over though, and I'm slightly hopeful because I finished the paper! But then again my marks always turn out the opposite from what I expect. So I shall ty not to expect anything. And work harder next year for GP.

From "The First Eden: The Mediterranean World and Man" by David Attenborough:

"Those (orchids) belonging to the genus Orchis, after which the whole family is named, ...develop a pair of small ovoid tubers which is why the Greeks gave them the name 'orchis', that being their word for testicles."

XD Those Greeks.
